Overview

OpenWith is a desktop application that runs entirely on your device. We respect your privacy and collect as little data as possible.

Data stored locally

All of the following data is stored only on your device and never transmitted:

• Your configuration preferences (theme, language, default browser)
• Your URL pattern rules and browser settings
• List of detected browsers on your system

Network requests

OpenWith makes the following network requests:

• Update check: Periodically fetches a version file from openwith.io to check if a newer version is available. No personal data is sent.
• License validation: If you have a Pro license, the app periodically syncs with the licensing server to validate your license. This transmits your license token and device identifier — no other personal information.
• License activation: When you activate a Pro license, your activation code is sent to the licensing server.
• Feedback: If you choose to send feedback, your message and optional email address are transmitted to our feedback service.

OpenWith does not track your browsing activity, URLs you open, or which browsers you use.

Browser extension

The optional OpenWith browser extension intercepts link clicks to redirect them through OpenWith. The extension does not collect, store, or transmit any browsing data. URLs are passed to the desktop app locally via the openwith:// protocol.

Third-party services

The OpenWith website (openwith.io) is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare may collect standard web analytics (page views, country-level geography). No cookies are set by the OpenWith website.

Pro license purchases are processed by Stripe. Payment information (card details, billing address, email) is collected and handled entirely by Stripe — we never see or store your full payment details. See Stripe's privacy policy for their data handling practices.

The support form on the website is powered by Tally. When you submit a support request, your message is processed by Tally and delivered to us. See Tally's privacy policy for their data handling practices.

Children's privacy

OpenWith does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
